AboutShe is Wanderlust
Hey there! My name is Selene!
When I first started traveling alone, I quickly realized how few resources were out there specifically tailored to women who choose to go solo, so I decided to build the kind of website I wish I had back then: a place filled with real tips, honest recommendations, and helpful guides you can trust.

Hey there! My name is Selene!
When I first started traveling alone, I quickly realized how few resources were out there specifically tailored to women who choose to go solo, so I decided to build the kind of website I wish I had back then: a place filled with real tips, honest recommendations, and helpful guides you can trust.
How it all started
A few years ago, I quit my 9-to-5 and made a commitment to myself: I’d take one trip every month. I’ve been doing it consistently for over four years now, and it’s been the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made.
Traveling solo has taught me more than any classroom or job ever could. I thrive off culture shock—it pushes me to question what I think I know, and opens my eyes to the many different ways people live, think, and see the world. It’s humbling, exciting, and deeply grounding all at once.

This blog isn’t just about pretty destinations and photogenic cafés. I focus on sharing practical travel tips, cultural facts, and useful insights that actually help you plan a safe, enriching, and empowering trip. Yes, I do earn commissions from some affiliate links, but I only recommend what I’ve tried, researched, and genuinely believe in. For some of the tours and resources here, I make absolutely nothing—I share them simply because they’re the best out there, and that’s what I’d want from a travel blogger, too.
The word wanderlust—that deep, irresistible urge to explore—completely resonates with me.

Travel is how I reconnect with myself, get out of my comfort zone, and remember how incredible and vast this world really is.

I’m usually on the road solo, not because I don’t enjoy company, but because most people I know either don’t have the time or the resources to join. So I go anyway. And honestly? It’s empowered me in ways I never expected.

As a photographer, I do love capturing moments—but most of the time, it’s just me and my camera, so yes, you’ll see a lot of selfies! I’m not overly focused on getting the “perfect” shot of myself. For me, travel is more about the memories than the photos (though I do try to balance both when I can).
Over the years, traveling has changed the way I see the world—and myself. It’s made me more open-minded, more adaptable, more tolerant, and way more resourceful. My hope is that this blog helps inspire you to get out there, take that solo trip, and experience all the beauty and growth that travel has to offer.
Thanks for being here. I hope you find what you need—and maybe even something you didn’t know you were looking for.
