Bucket List

How to get around

If you are planning on traveling between countries, sea or sky are your only options, but none of them are cheap. If you are not in a rush, I would recommend to hire a boat, and spend your days enjoying the lovely climate and awesome views of the region. The cheapest option to do this is to take a cruise or a ferry.

Money Saving Tips

-Choose your island(s): Airfare is one of the key expenses of any trip, and some destinations and cheaper to get to than others. Also the cost of living in some islands are more expensive in general than others

-Consider a cruise: If you’re interested in visiting more than one island, I recommend you take a cruise. It’s gonna save you a lot in accommodations, transportation and meals while still allowing you to enjoy and relax.

-Go in off season: The busiest and most expensive times to travel to the Caribbean are the winter and the spring break, where prices can be double than what you would pay on summer or fall.

-Plan in advance: Planning with time could save you hundreds or even thousand when it comes to flights, accommodations and tours.

What to expect in The Caribbean

LANGUAGE: Most of the spoken languages in the Caribbean are either European languages or european-based languages, but due to the tourism, english is the at least the second most spoken language in most Caribbean destinations.

CURRENCY: The Caribbean islands have a number of currencies serving multiple territories, but due to tourism, US dollars, credit cards and other foreign currencies like euros are widely accepted everywhere besides Cuba.

SAFETY: Just like everywhere else, it depends on where you are going. Countries with a higher rate of poverty tend to have a higher crime rate as well, and every country have areas you should avoid just in case. Travelers are unlikely to experience any major incidents on The Caribbean, but I would still recommend to be extra careful in some areas of Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago and Puerto Rico

CLIMATE: The Caribbean experiences a sunny and warm, tropical climate throughout the year, with the exception of the hurricane season.

PASSPORT: Remember that many countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months (some just three months) after your arrival date before they’ll grant entry to their country. Some of them also require a VISA to enter the country depending on your nationality. Plan in advance and make sure you have everything in order.
