Bassin Bleu

Bassin Bleu haiti

Located in the mountains northwest of Jacmel in Haiti, Bassin Bleu (or blue pool) is a natural attraction comprised by series of hidden waterfalls and basins, mineral-rich pools linked by waterfalls, and lush surrounding landscapes, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

The three pools are Bassin Clair, Bassin Bleu and Bassin Palmiste. The three pools offer cool, pristine and bright blue waters, one of the most beautiful natural wonders of Haiti. Of the three, Bassin Clair is the most popular one, with a 32 feet (10 mt) height waterfall and turquoise waters.

Visitors can hike through dense forests, cross small streams, and navigate rocky terrain to reach the pools. The vivid blue color of the water is a result of mineral deposits, creating a truly mesmerizing sight. The pools offer a refreshing escape from the tropical heat and provide a unique opportunity for swimming, diving, and cliff jumping, all amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Tours, guides and transportation can be found in Jacmel. A small truck will take you up to the mountains, and from there a small hike awaits for you.

Bassin Bleu offers a unique and unforgettable experience for nature lovers, providing an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural wonders of Haiti. The combination of stunning blue pools, cascading waterfalls, and lush landscapes create a magical setting that showcases the incredible beauty of the country’s natural treasures. A visit to Bassin Bleu is an opportunity to connect with nature, unwind, and create lasting memories in one of Haiti’s most picturesque locations.

Make sure that you don’t go in rainy season, as the amount of waterfall might fill the pools with mud and change its colors.
