If you are looking for a luxury trip with 5 stars hotels, The Antarctica is not for you. This vast sheet of ice is considered to be the last slice of wilderness. You don’t come on holiday here; you come on an expedition.

Why Visit

WILDLIFE: I think one of the main reason why someone would go to the Antarctica is to see the wildlife and admire how they manage to survive on these extreme conditions.  One of the most exciting things about a trip to Antarctica is the unpredictability of your wildlife sightings.

LANDSCAPES: Ice-shelves, glaciers, volcanoes and mountains, Antarctica is a polar desert that will take your breath away,

NO INTERNET: If you are looking to disconnect, this is the perfect getaway for you, the phone services / internet access is limited. A moment to get time for yourself.

ADVENTURE: The Antarctica is an adventure even if you are trying to cross an ice formation from one side to the another. Is the coldest, windiest, driest and iciest place on the planet, you will for sure experience the changes Antarctica offers during the trip.

When to go

As the Antarctica is in the southern hemisphere, they enjoy their “summer” from November through March. When I say summer, I mean maximum temperatures of 30 degrees Fahrenheit, but it also means that the sun doesn’t set for four months. You and watch the sun trace a path through the sky 24/7.

Flights in Antarctica are limited to weather-permitting landings (only available during summer), and anyone who wants to stay during the winter has to stay the entire 6 months of it through the cold.

How to get to the Antarctica

The only way to visit Antarctica is with a tour, cruise of flight. You could also apply for a job up there but it is less likely.  The most of the cruises and tours leave out of Ushuaia, Argentina, a resort town on an archipelago at the southernmost tip of South America. Each of the options offer an incredible experience. If you decide to take a flight, you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the continent from the heights, and if you decide to take the cruise, you will feel the adrenaline when crossing the Drake passage.
