How to get around

By plane

Flying domestic in the US is by far the fastest way to get around. Distances in the USA are so great that it’s essential to plan in advance how you’ll get from place to place. There are a couple budget airlines like Spirit, Southwest, Jetblue and Frontier that could save you a couple hundred in air fares.

By Car

A roadtrip in the US has been in the bucket list of many for years. Although distances are great in the country, driving also offers flexibility and the ability of enjoying the scenery while getting to your destination. However, the majority of major cities in the US offer a good network of Public transportation and a lot of traffic, therefore renting a car would only be necessary if you are exploring the countryside.

By Bus

Buses are an alternative if you are traveling on a budget. The main long-distance operator, Greyhound links all major cities and many towns.

By Train

The national Amtrak network isn’t precisely comprehensive. The East Coast is well covered, however, is not the case in the West. The cross-country routes tend to be served by one or at most two trains per day. Although traveling by train could be a very pleasant experience, it is usually more expensive than taking the bus or flying in some cases.

By Foot

The US has plenty of options when it comes to walking. Most of its cities will have boardwalk and walkable areas, however it is recommended to be cautious at night in some places. There is also a diverse array of routes and places where to hike. Especially in the Southern States, you should be careful when hiking because of venomous snakes.
