Captiva Island
A PRIVATE PARADISE IN FLORIDA
Captiva Island, a hidden gem nestled off the coast of southwest Florida, is a true paradise for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts. With its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush tropical landscapes, Captiva Island offers a tranquil and idyllic retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The island’s laid-back vibe, charming coastal cottages, and breathtaking sunsets create an atmosphere of pure relaxation and serenity.
Captiva island has a magical vibe, with natural preserves in addition to a couple picturesque restaurants, and antique store and only a handful of hotels. But my favorite is South Seas Island Resort.
330 acres of nature preserve and pristine beaches
South Seas Island Resort
The Resort has 330 acres of nature preserve, with 2.5 miles of beaches, modern amenities and a variety of luxury accommodations of all sizes to cater every type of traveler: guest rooms, apartments of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms, family houses and private villas; ideal for couples, families and solo travelers.
With oceanfront bars, restaurants, coffee shops (even a Starbucks), souvenir shops, markets, kids activities, tennis, golf, sailing school, water slides, water sports, spa, and more, there is no chance to get bored in this private, secluded and mystical island, no matters if you are looking for an adventure or a relax getaway. Even Manatees and dolphins often come to visit!
I have no complains. I stayed at a 1 bedroom apartment, not renovated but cozy, with semi-ocean views, (there is a coastal dune in between you and the ocean), an oversized kitchen and incredible pillows. The only thing I would say is that if you are planning on cooking, bring you own pans as theirs aren’t that good, as well as everything you need to cook your meals (like salt and spices). Remember, you are far away from civilization.
The resort is well kept and extremely clean, especially important as we went there during the pandemic. Everybody at the property was really friendly, and the views, especially the sunsets, are spectaculr.
Animal lovers will love it too! Shells, birds, ospreys, fishes, lizards, frogs, manatees, dolphins .. you can see it all.
There is really so many things available for you that getting bored is a luxury. I even went on the water slides and felt like I was 5yo again.
PS: Green Flash restaurant on the island is 100% recommended. Their prices are reasonable and their food is outstanding.
