The reasons why Greece is my favorite
Greece is an extraordinary destination that holds a special place in my heart. Is not just the breathtaking landscape you get to enjoy all over the country (beautiful beaches, bright colors; crystal clear water and fine sand, virgin nature of its mountainous forests and rural villages, its 227 islands…); but the history, culture and people.
Greece is a country full of history, considered the beginning of the Western civilization. Just to imagine that thousands of years before the romans were marching all over this landscape gives me goosebumps. The remains of ancient Greece is just scattered everywhere.
Greek people are the most friendly, hospitable, and relaxed people/culture I have met in Europe (Romanians are pretty cool as well)
And what about the food? Nothing but an exquisite gastronomy. Everything in Greece is fresh, organic and tasteful, and not expensive at all. You can have a feast every single day of your life.
But for me, what brings all this together is the culture. Is amazing how, in such a chaotic country with an economy falling apart, people can manage to remain being honest, warm and respectful. I was surprised of seeing the stores leaving all their merchandise outside overnight without it being stolen.
Greeks make life enjoyable. Good company, some food and some wine is the recipe for a forever happy life in here. For me, it is a place where you can have it all: amazing food, breathtaking nature, rich culture and history and warm and friendly people all over the place (of course, if you can find how to survive in this economy).
Greek people love their country and so do I, and that’s why I will keep writing about this amazing destination. These just a couple reasons why Greece is my favorite. The combination of history, natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality makes Greece a truly great place to visit, and one that I long to return to time and time again.
