Condado
A Popular District in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Condado is a district located just east of Old San Juan. It is one of the city’s most recognizable neighborhoods, known for its beachfront setting and mix of residential, commercial, and hospitality areas. The neighborhood offers access to the Atlantic coast while being within walking distance or a short drive from San Juan’s historic center.
History
Condado was developed in the early 20th century as a residential area and gradually expanded into a district with hotels, restaurants, and shops catering to both residents and visitors. Its growth was influenced by San Juan’s rise as a tourism destination, with Condado becoming a central hub for accommodations and leisure activities. While it retains residential sections, it is now best known as one of the city’s busiest modern neighborhoods.
