Holidays where you come back healthier than when you left
Most holidays are about indulgence – lounging by the pool, eating and drinking a little too much, and generally pressing pause on healthy habits. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, for some people, they are looking for something different. Instead of coming back and feeling the need to crash diet, they want to go away, relax, and then return feeling recharged, energised, and healthier than when they left.
When it comes to these types of breaks, when you start looking into them, there are plenty for you to choose from. You could go on a hiking holiday and take on a Camino de Santiago from Sarria (as an example). Alternatively, you could try a rock climbing break, where you’ll get a full body workout and test your mental strength.
To help inspire you, we have put together a brief guide on holidays where you come back healthier than when you left.
Hiking holiday
A great place to start is a hiking holiday! Hiking is one of the most enjoyable ways to combine exercise with exploration. Each day brings new landscapes, from rolling hills and coastal cliffs to mountain passes and charming villages. You don’t need to be an expert to enjoy it either – there are routes to suit every level, whether you’re looking for gentle trails with plenty of breaks or more challenging treks that push your limits. Best of all, you’ll return home fitter, stronger, and with unforgettable memories of the scenery you’ve walked through.
Rock climbing holiday
Something a little different and adrenaline-inducing is a rock climbing holiday. Perfect for those who love adventure and want to push themselves, climbing builds strength, endurance, and confidence while rewarding you with spectacular views from the top. Most rock climbing holidays start from beginner, where you learn a lot about climbing, to expert, where you may take on a complicated climb. Whatever level you are, you’ll be returning healthier than when you left for sure.
Cycling holiday
If you love exploring at a slightly faster pace, a cycling holiday is a fantastic way to see the world while keeping fit. Cycling works your whole body, improves stamina, and gets your heart pumping – yet it feels like pure fun. You can go away on a cycling break with your family, with your partner or as part of a solo trip – you could also do a solo trip but book into a guided cycling holiday to meet like-minded people. The best thing about cycling is that you get to see a lot in a short period of time. One minute you could be in a major city like London, the next you are cycling along the coast in Brighton, watching the sun set.
