Mauritius offers a welcoming visa policy to international travelers, facilitating various entry options based on nationality, purpose of visit, and duration of stay. Below is a comprehensive guide detailing the visa requirements and types available for visitors to Mauritius.
Who can enter Mauritius without a Visa
Citizens from numerous countries can enter Mauritius without a visa for short stays, typically up to 90 days. This includes nationals from:

Asia: Nationals of Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Israel enjoy visa-free access. Additionally, citizens from India and China are granted visa-free entry for up to 60 days.
Europe: All European Union member states, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, as well as non-EU countries like Switzerland, Norway, and the United Kingdom, are included in the visa exemption list.

It’s important to note that visa policies are subject to change. Travelers are advised to consult the official Mauritius government or embassy websites for the most up-to-date information before planning their trip.
Visa on Arrival (VoA)
Mauritius offers a Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility to citizens of certain countries. Eligible travelers can obtain a visa upon arrival at the port of entry for stays typically up to 60 days. Countries whose citizens are eligible for VoA include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
E-Visa
Mauritius has implemented an electronic visa (eVisa) system for travelers from countries that require a visa to enter. Applicants can apply online through the official Mauritius eVisa portal. The eVisa is typically valid for short stays and is available for tourism, business, or family visits. Countries eligible for the eVisa include India, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and others.
Premium Travel Visa
Mauritius offers a Premium Travel Visa for individuals who intend to stay in the country for an extended period, up to one year, for purposes such as remote work, retirement, or long-term tourism. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves and have valid health insurance coverage. This visa does not permit holders to engage in employment within the Mauritian labor market.
Additional Entry Requirements
Regardless of visa type, all travelers to Mauritius must:
- Hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry.
- Provide proof of onward or return travel.
- Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover their stay.
- Complete the “Mauritius All-in-One Travel Digital Form” within 72 hours prior to arrival.
It’s important to note that visa policies are subject to change. Travelers are advised to consult the official Mauritius government or embassy websites for the most up-to-date information before planning their trip.
