Oleta River State Park
A natural escape within Miami
Oleta River State Park is Florida’s largest urban park, located in North Miami. Despite being only a short drive from the city’s busy neighborhoods, the park offers a different setting, with mangrove forests, waterways, and outdoor recreation areas.
Trails and Biking
Covering over 1,000 acres, the park is best known for its network of biking trails, which range from paved paths for beginners to more challenging off-road tracks. Walking and hiking trails are also available, making it accessible for visitors who prefer exploring on foot.
Water Activities
The Oleta River runs through the park and provides opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing. Rentals are available on-site, or visitors can bring their own equipment. The calm water and mangrove surroundings make it a suitable spot for both beginners and more experienced paddlers.
Swimming Area
For those interested in swimming, there is a small sandy beach along the Biscayne Bay side of the park. The area is shallow and generally calm, making it suitable for a quick dip or a relaxed visit by the water.

Facilities and Camping
The park also includes picnic areas, pavilions, and camping options, with cabins and designated spots for tents. While facilities are basic, they provide a chance to experience the natural side of Miami overnight.
Wildlife and Nature
Wildlife is present throughout the park, including a variety of bird species and occasional sightings of manatees near the water. It’s a reminder that even in a large city, ecosystems like mangroves play an important role in the environment.

Hours & Info
