Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)
Contemporary art on Biscayne Ba
Pérez Art Museum Miami—commonly referred to as PAMM—opened in its current downtown location in 2013. Originally founded in 1984, it became a collecting institution by 1994, evolving into a contemporary art museum reflecting Miami’s diversity. Its present 200,000-sq-ft facility sits on Biscayne Bay within Museum Park, alongside the Frost Museum of Science.
Architecture & Setting
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the building integrates tropical landscaping with modern form. Elevated decks, hanging gardens, and large overhangs contribute to passive cooling and blend the structure with the bayfront environment.
Collections & Galleries
- Scope: The permanent collection includes around 3,000 works across 15 gallery spaces, with an emphasis on 20th- and 21st-century art tied to the Latinx experience, African diaspora, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
- Layout: Galleries are spread across two main levels. The second floor houses most permanent collection displays, while the first floor features temporary exhibitions, a café, shop, and public programs. Natural light and Bay views punctuate the spaces.
Public Programs & Digital Access
- PAMM offers guided tours (including themed options such as Black Art or Pride tours) and outreach programs for students and communities.
- In 2023, the museum launched PAMMTV, a free digital platform for sharing video art and media content from local and international artists
